The target audience con\u00adsists of (early-stage) resear\u00adchers in the Humani\u00adties, who wish to apply digi\u00adtal methods in their own re\u00adsearch prac\u00adtice but who, so far, have had little or no signi\u00adficant initia\u00adtion to the use of digi\u00adtal methods.<\/p>\n
The focus is on text analysis using the popu\u00adlar scrip\u00adting language Python, which is rapidly becoming the standard program\u00adming language for computa\u00adtional text ana\u00adlysis in digi\u00adtal Humani\u00adties.<\/p>\n

For the work\u00adshop, the instruc\u00adtors will make use of a so-called Python note\u00adbook \u2013 a success\u00adful and enga\u00adging teaching for\u00admat. Python notebooks are a course book and coding \u2018sandbox\u2019 at once. Experience with previous EADH and DARIAH-DE Summer Schools in Nijmegen and G\u00f6ttingen has shown that this format is extremely engaging for resear\u00adchers who have had no signi\u00adficant expo\u00adsure to digi\u00adtal methods yet.<\/p>\n
The fol\u00adlowing team of dynamic and experien\u00adced Python instruc\u00adtors have kindly con\u00adfirmed their partici\u00adpation in the inten\u00adsive full-week teaching pro\u00adgram:<\/p>\n
The partici\u00adpation fee for the Spring Academy is 100 euros, and in\u00adcludes five days of instruc\u00adtion together with lunches and cof\u00adfee breaks. The work\u00adshop takes place on the City Cam\u00adpus of the Univer\u00adsity of Ant\u00adwerp, which is loca\u00adted in the histo\u00adrical city centre. All parti\u00adcipants are expec\u00adted to arrange for their own accom\u00admodation. We can waive the partici\u00adpation fee for two appli\u00adcants, but we are unable to cover travel expen\u00adses. Resear\u00adchers who wish to apply for the fee waiver should in\u00adclude a brief motiva\u00adtion.<\/p>\n
Parti\u00adcipants are expec\u00adted to bring their own lap\u00adtop. Instal\u00adlation instruc\u00adtions will follow short\u00adly before the work\u00adshop starts. Previous expe\u00adrience in program\u00adming or statis\u00adtics is not required.<\/p>\n
