MS 17492), folio 2r.<\/a><br \/>\n\u00a9 The British Library<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/web.uvic.ca\/~siemens\/\">Ray Siemens<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0Distinguished Professor in the Faculty of Humanities at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/\">University of Victoria<\/a>, in English and Computer Science, and past\u00a0Canada Research Chair in Humanities Computing (2004-15). He is founding editor of the electronic scholarly journal\u00a0<i>Early Modern Literary Studies<\/i>, and his publications include, among others, Blackwell&#8217;s\u00a0<i>Companion to Digital Humanities<\/i>\u00a0(2004, 2015 with Schreibman and Unsworth), Blackwell&#8217;s\u00a0<i>Companion to Digital Literary Studies<\/i>\u00a0(2007, with Schreibman),\u00a0<i>A Social Edition of the Devonshire MS<\/i>\u00a0(2012, 2015; MRTS\/Iter, Wikibooks),\u00a0<i>Literary Studies in the Digital Age<\/i>\u00a0(2014; MLA, with Price), and\u00a0<i>The Lyrics of the Henry VIII MS<\/i>\u00a0(2017; RETS). He directs the <a href=\"http:\/\/inke.ca\/\">Implementing New Knowledge Environments\u00a0(INKE)<\/a> project, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dhsi.org\/\">Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI)<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/etcl.uvic.ca\/\">Electronic Textual Cultures Lab<\/a>, recently serving also as Vice President \/ Director of the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences for Research Dissemination, Chair of the MLA Committee on Scholarly Editions, and Chair of the international <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adho.org\/\">Alliance of Digital Humanities\u00a0Organizations (ADHO)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Open Social Scholarship and the Scholarly Edition<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">This talk considers the nature of editorial methodological experimentation,\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">in\u00a0particular\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">exploring the scholarly edition in the context of open social scholarship. \u00a0<\/span>Open social scholarship involves creating and disseminating research and research technologies to a broad audience of specialists and active non-specialists in ways that are accessible and significant.
